These scarves are the ones I have been telling you about. The young man Farag in the picture with his wife and daughter live in the village I was visiting by Abu Sir.He has worked with horses since he was a child. He is an amazing rider and horseman.

It is his dream to come to Canada and learn how to trim and shoe horses. There is a lack of talented farriers in Egypt. Some of the money raised will help pay his way. The cost of plane fare is greater then his wage for the year.

This is something I would like to do for others in the future.

I am also hoping to raise $15,000.00 dollars to build a community Learning Center in the village. That buys the land, builds the center and furnishes it. It will also help us to print childrens books. (Volunteers have already offered to write and illustrate books)

The children rarely go to school past grade three. Classes would be offered to anyone who wished to attend. English as a second language as well as reading and writing in Arabic would be offered. Basic animal care would be taught. I believe if we start with the children we can change attitudes towards spaying and nuetering. The farm animals I saw were in good shape, these farmers take care of their animals.

Litter is every where in the Eygpt.. It drove me crazy. No uniforms, no fees will be charged. Then only cost of attending will be a bag of garbage. One of my goals is to clean up the litter. There is a very good recycling system in Egypt and the trash can be sold to help defer costs for the center.
